A ELEGANT CHRISTMAS TABLE SETTING: PINK, GOLD & BURGUNDY

I hope you're all enjoying the last few days leading up to christmas and are fitting in all the festivities that make this season so special.

If you read my 3 step guide to beautifully wrapped gifts, you will have heard me make the point that my wrapping paper often set the theme for all my christmas celebrations, especially when it comes to colour.

This year, inspired by the oh so gorgeous Inky Co. wrapping paper, I decided on the colour palette, pink, gold and burgundy - which I think perfectly complemented the elegant approach I was taking when it came to christmas this year.

You can never go wrong with gold, it doesn't really matter what other colours you use alongside it, whether they be contemporary or not, the gold really does give a classic and luxurious feel regardless.

My table this year was a real mix of new and old, and I love the end result.

Here's a run down of all the elements!

TABLE CLOTH

After I decided on my main 3 colours, I knew that a simple white table wouldn't be bold enough to portray the sauve feel I was going for, so I immediately opted for a dark charcoal colour.

TABLE RUNNER

To tie in with my gift wrapping, I used 5 metres of white cheesecloth for the runner of my table. The cascading fabric gave an ethereal look and really softened the look of the dark charcoal creating a beautiful combination.

CENTREPIECEThis year I kept my centrepiece quite simple. I started with a gorgeous glass blush vase on a gold stand, in which I placed a burgundy coloured pampas grass and baubles left over from the tree. Using baubles is a super simple and inexpensive way to create a centrepiece is a super simple if you've left it to the last minute or aren't sure what to do, plus it will always look cohesive as it will match your tree! Alongside the vase I placed a gold frame tealight holder and a large bunch of red grapes. Grapes are another great centrepiece option as they add a pop of colour, are inexpensive and give your guests something to nibble on throughout the night. For the rest of the space on the runner, I simple added some large white candles of varying heights. I think it is nice to create space in the centre of the table as well as make it look beautiful, if you over do the runner or the centrepiece, it can make guests feel as though there is a barrier between them.

PLACE SETTING

To create the place setting, I started with these gorgeous opaque white plates that belonged to my grandmother. To yet again tie in with my present wrapping - and to use of the leftover cheesecloth- I created square blush napkins from the cheesecloth. I placed gold cutlery for a luxurious feel and paired it with a simple flute glass.

PLACE CARDS

I thought I would get creative this year with my placecards and create cookies! Really it was just another representation of my clay gift tags, but edible! I think doing this really creates a personal touch so much more than a printed place card can. I will be putting up a guide on how to make these, so keep your eye out for this! Alongside this, I placed a couple of grapes, which tied in with my centrepiece and gave a pop of colour to each setting.

I think the best thing you can do when creating a table setting, is ensure cohesiveness and consistency. Stick to the colours and styles you have used for your tree and presents and repeat elements. It looks so stylish and saves you having to think of so many different items to style with.

All the best with your christmas table settings!
