HOW TO MAKE CLAY GIFT TAGS

If you've read my 3 step guide to beautifully wrapped gifts post you will have seen that I created these clay gift tags for my christmas gifts this year. I promised you they are so easy and I even have a tip to speed up the process if you've left your present wrapping til the last minute!

What you need:

- 500g Jovi Air drying Clay -White (Click here for Amazon option)

- 5cm circle cookie cutter (This is the size I used but any size will work! You can purchase a set here )

- Straw

- Letter Press Set (Click here for amazon option)

- Baking Paper

- Rolling Pin

Method:

  1. Knead the clay with your hands to soften. Once soft, place the clay between 2 sheets of baking paper and roll out until it is 5mm thick.

  2. Remove the top baking paper and use your cookie cutters to cut the gift tags.

  3. Use the end of a straw to create a hole near the top of the disc, this will allow you to thread the clay tag through ribbon and actually attach them to your gifts.

  4. Arrange the letters for each persons name in the letterpress - if you're anything like me getting used to spelling peoples names backwards and reflected may take a little bit!

  5. Press the letter stamps into the clay. Have a play around with how deep you like the letters. The best thing about clay is if you make a mistake you can just roll it out and start again.

  6. Place the finished discs on a tray to air dry for 24 hours. (HINT: If you've left your gift wrapping until the last minute or you're just impatient like me, you can place the tags in the oven on lowest setting for an hour or two and this speeds up the process dramatically!)

  7. Once dry, thread the tags through ribbon and tie to your gifts

I hope you find this as simple and easy as I did. It's all the fun of cookie making without the mess, I think!
